Wasatch Electric provided electrical and power distribution solutions for the Intermountain Gardner Transformation Center (IGTC), a state-of-the-art healthcare training and research facility. To meet the needs of this highly advanced facility, we had to leverage our specialized knowledge of healthcare technology, as well as our extensive experience working in the latest educational facilities.

Client Objectives

The IGTC was built with the vision of bringing together healthcare professionals from around the U.S. and throughout the world area to receive training and collaborate on their work, in an effort to find innovative ways to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare.

Solutions

Covering more than 120,000 square feet and four stories, we provided customized electrical solutions for a variety of unique environments, including: auditoriums, classrooms, collaboration spaces, conference rooms, a library, a production studio, and a kitchen, as well as a cutting-edge developmental space designed to research and create new medical technologies. 

Our scope for this project included:

  • Power and distribution, featuring:
    • 2,500-amps with egress lighting and power achieved without the use of a traditional diesel engine generator
    • Nine distribution switchboards
    • 27 panel boards
    • Hundreds of feet of underground power and data ducts
    • Four uninterruptible power supply systems of various sizes

Client Background

The IGTC is operated by Intermountain Healthcare, one of the region’s largest not-for-profit healthcare systems. They provide ambulatory and acute health services, along with other medical services, through 225 clinics and 25 hospitals in Utah, Idaho, and Nevada.
